Suitable for larger households (4 bathrooms and a kitchen) the Wika SWH300 LXC is effectively the same as the SWH 150 LXC but with a double capacity tank and 2 collector panels. The 300LXC also has a larger backup electric heating element.
This heater is guaranteed for 7 years. |

The collector consists of an absorber plate of aluminium with copper tubes embedded in it. Infra red rays strike the aluminium heating it up. The heat is transferred through the copper to the carrier fluid inside.
The collector plate is mounted in an insulated zincalume box with a misilte low iron safety glass cover which traps heat inside the box and stops cooling from breezes. High density polyurethane foam insulated the absorber plate inside the box.
WIKA solar water heater storage tanks are manufacturered from carbon steel and have an internal coating of stove enamel to protect them from corrosion. The tank has a cold water inlet and a hot water outlet. There is also an internal coil of copper pipe through which the heat transfer fluid flows to transfer heat collected in the absorber plate to the water in the tank.
The storage tank is surrounded with a thick layer of High Density Polyurethane foam with a stainless steel outer cover.
There is a sacrificial anode inside the tank to protect it from corrosion. The anode is made from magnesium which corrodes more easily than steel thus the anode "preferentially" corrodes reducing corrosive activity in the steel.
The tank is also fitted with a backup electric element so that should the need arise the water in the tank can be heated electrically.
WIKA solar water heaters have a temperature and pressure release valve to protect them from overheating and over pressurising.
An earth leakage detection contact breaker is also supplied with each heater to provide protection should there be a short circuit in the heating element. Unlike normal contact breakers an earth leakage breaker reacts very quickly to cut off power before a person can be electrocuted.
